Welcome to the Newport Dealeys website for nostalgic sailors.
My name is Jerry Skorch, (USS Joseph K Taussig 1961-64) Chairman for the
2006 Reunion, September 14th – 17th, and I've just returned from an on
site inspection of our next reunion location.
We are going to meet again to swap stories and have a ball in Baltimore,
Maryland, at the Baltimore-Washington International Airport Holiday Inn.
It’s not the grandiose spas that we’ve been spoiled with in Newport or
Jacksonville, but believe me, you’re going to feel right at home here!
I’ve never experienced such genuinely friendly, outgoing and helpful
hotel staff anywhere before. Nor have I had such wonderful food in any
other hotel.
You’ll have all the comforts of home….but a bigger, friendlier family!
Registration, of course, is Thursday, September 14th.
On Friday we will be touring the United States Naval Academy in
Annapolis that’s one you won’t want to miss. On Saturday our tour will
be to our Nation’s Capitol, Washington, D.C. and all (most) of its
monuments, museums and memorials, including Arlington National Cemetery.
That’s also a “must see” even if you’ve been there before; there’s
always something new and exciting. A very unique Banquet will be held
Saturday night that you’ll talk about all year. Sunday, naturally, will
be our usual solemn ceremony after breakfast prior to the goodbyes which
we all dread. These years are sailing by and we’ve got to make a point
to make each one count, so please, when you get your packet from
Military Locators & Reunion Service, fill it out immediately and mark
your calendar for a very exciting reunion weekend, September 14 through
17, 2006. I look forward to greeting each one of you and your guest.
